Television. We used to all watch it for hours a day, or is that just me? Probably not! Television is indeed dying, with the replacement of smartphones, us as individuals and a society have reverted away from television, why? Because they aren't as mobile as cell phones, with cell phones you can watch and do whatever you want, whenever you want, wherever. It'd be fitting to say that cell phones and tablets have absolutely outclassed televisions. The only thing the youth (and many adults) are doing at this point in time with television is using it as a source as a screen for their video games, then again, computer monitors are doing that too. There is only one primary thing that we use on the television, and that is the news, however what do you know!? that is being replaced because it is on our cell phones too! As a society we must face that nothing on this planet any time soon will replace the things we use, even with new televisions coming yearly, lets face it, when was the last time you did something on your television that you couldn't do elsewhere? As nifty as the television was, it will most probably in the near future become non-existent. The only thing I even do on the television anymore is play video games and in rare occasions if I don't check a tablet or my twitter for CP24 or CNN notifications then and only then will I check the television. To conclude, yes, I do think television is dying. With the advertisements that last longer than the programs themselves we are destined to switch to something that has less… annoying things. We can’t even blame the people who work on the televisions, lets face it, cell phones, tablets, and computers have taken over the world.
Nah nah. TV IS NOT DYING. IT IS ONE OF THE GREATEST INVENTIONS MAN EVER MADE. SMARTPHONES WILL NEVER REPLACE THIS WONDERFUL DEVICE. Using cell phones to watch shows is not really that great unlike watching it in a large screen such as, ehem, THE TV. Moreover when people watch in their smartphones, they tend to bring the device closer to their eyes since they can't see it unlike, ehme, THE TV!

DeleteI agree with you, but not what you told Jade that television will be dead by tomorrow! I agree that television has been replaced by smartphones, but thats not the only point. If you look at the first article I posted on my blog, it will show the increase of time viewings per week from 50 - 65+ year olds. But there is a decrease of weekly time viewings of 12 - 35 year olds. You're probably like, what does that have to do with anything? It does because if you think about it in the next 30 years the viewings for young people will continue to decrease but then the elderly will die off (not to be mean) and then there will no one else to watch television, then it will shut down. So my prediction is that in 30 years no one will watch television anymore.

DeleteIf anything, yes tv is dying!! But smartphones aren't gonna replace television because in all honesty who wants to watch their favourite shows from a tiny screen. If anything we can just connect our smartphones to the tv and watch our favourite shows using the power of Netflix. Cable is basically dead since no one really uses it anymore because of youtube and Netflix and other apps. But tv brands are increasing for the use of game consoles such as xbox 1 and ps4. So no I do not think tv is dead but i think there will be no cable but there will still be cvs for Netflix and game consoles.

Tv isn't really dead, yet. Smartphones are a new and recent invention in comparison to the long and ancient history of the television but I still think that it's not the same. The comfort of the couch and the large LCD screen of harmful lights is an experience that smartphones couldn't ever hope to recreate. But yes I do agree with your main point, Tv is dying, in a slow and painful death.

DeleteI agree, Aryese. Television is dying. It has been replaced by electronic devices such as smartphones. It is also true that you can watch and do anything you want in your cellphone. So basically cellphones are portable televisions. No one really watches television cable. However, there are people who are still watching TV for news or whatever. Netflix is a great example of a replacement of TV because one of Netflix’s features is the ability to watch TV shows in the app. I will repeat it again, Television is dying out. Netflix or other apps would be rising like the television was before.
ReplyDeleteYes, Aryese. Television is actually dying and this is caused by the electronic devices. It is also true that you could watch anything on your smartphones or your computer screen. Netflix, Crave and YouTube is basically the replacement of TVs and I think that these applications could do a better job than the TV because these apps could stream everything like sports, news, movies, TV shows and much more! There is also tv channels like HBO, CP24, TSN, ESPN and etc., that has apps in your smartphones and this is a great replacement of TV because you could download it for free and you could watch it anywhere because its in your phone! Therefore, I think that TVs are dying because of the smart electronic devices that we have now.
